Happy New Year

What does it mean that another year ends and another year begins? What does it mean that time is perpetually moving forwards and sometimes we only feel like we are moving backwards. I have realized that no matter how much we might want to stop time or turn it back to change or replay some decisions that we made we cannot. As a river flows our life flows in a constant forwards motion and in order to live life to the full we have to dive in headfirst and go with the flow. Of course there are times when we might feel as if we are treading water or swimming up stream but if we remember the one basic fact we might just let life be as it should: we cannot stop the flow of water but we can change it's direction. We must keep the momentum of our lives going forwards. For so long I feel as if I have been fighting it. Here comes my New Year's resolution: Go with the flow and allow life to take the direction it was made to from the very beginning and moment you were born.

Tokyo airport

It felt like a futuristic bomb shelter. So quiet. So sterile. So empty. White. Clean. Shhhhhhh.

Minds muddle.

Minds muddle. My thoughts bounce around as if they are afraid to stay still. It's a reflection of my life, my mind. At times I feel it is as stable as the earth beneath my feet and at the same time it is as fragile as an egg shell. It reminds me the one thing that I know to be true: nothing is permanent and we are in a constant state of flux. We are forever shifting, moving and evolving and in doing so we are as malleable as the water which shapes our earth and sustains our being.

Water. Ice. Freezing. Beauty.

It has been arctic temperatures recently and on a beautiful but chilling sunny day I walked by the river through Whistler. It is stunning when it freezes.

Fall

Just before the snow fell . . . .
